| Last Update (Perhaps Ever!) House Complete - 5/11/2001 How Strange! If you look on the bottom of the screen you can see that the web site was created on the 5th Nov 2000. Now, a year later I've finally been given my habitation certificate and my house is complete. It's taken 11 months from the practical start of the work, now, I'm just in the process of moving in and trying to get years of stuff out of various lofts and garages and into my home. So, for possibly the last time. Picture One shows the outside of the house, you can see that I've had the grass turffed which made a great difference. I seemed to be bringing most of the garden into the house, it wasn't doing my new carpet any good I can tell ya. Picture two is the same again, but a slightly different angle. You can see the chimney for the fire poking out of the apex on the roof.
roof. Picture three is the other room on the ground floor. It hasn't got a name yet, but I thought "biffer" was a good start! It'll be my office I suppose and a place for staking up books and broken computers. I put down cheapo laminate flooring in here until I decide what to do with it. Picture four is the kitchen. Steve put down the floor and I varnished it. It took about half a dozen coats of varnish on the floor before it looked decent, and I still think there's at least two/three to go to finish it off.
roof. Picture five is the living room, you can see the fire is in place and on, my sofas (thanks to Barry & Carol) are just the job and fit in well with the floor. Picture six is the same picture from a different angle. I'll be painting the chimney and the silver bit black again over the next few weeks.
So, finally, thanks for all the e-mails of support and encouragement, it's taken five years now, but I think it's worth it at the end of the day. My name is Kenny MacLean and I thought it would be a good idea to build my own house. It has however taken at least four years to get to the stage where I am finally getting round to it after getting over various planning issues, air raid shelters, property problems and of course, spending loads of cash!
